I can no longer deny it – it’s definitely the Christmas season. With the Christmas season comes the inevitable gift giving! I personally love shopping for presents – I put a lot of thought and detail into every single gift I give, including right down to the wrapping paper. I love giving thoughtful and useful gifts, and rely on gift cards only as a last case scenario.

But what about those ‘hard-to-buy-for’ people? We all have at least one in our life! Well, I’ve stumbled across a fabulous site called THE COLLECTIONARY that is sure to provide you with at least a few interesting and unique options for those who are hard-to-buy-for!

God, I LOVE etsy.

If you’re unfamiliar with the site, etsy is an e-commerce website where users sell their handmade and or vintage items. Users get their own storefront where they can promote their own products for sale. The best thing about etsy is that it’s a broad range site – literally anything you could think of under the sun is available for sale!

While doing my browsing on etsy, I found a shop that stopped me dead in my tracks. I was drawn in by the absolutely stunning illustrations of Jessica Durrant, etsy shop named @JessicaIllustration. Taking fashion and artistic illustrations to an unmatchable level, come see why JessicaIllustration is this week’s chic.toronto.fave.

beauty.review: Wantable Beauty Box

wantable logo

If you remember from a few chic.toronto.faves posts ago, WANTABLE is a monthly subscription box for either beauty or jewellery that is specifically catered to you. By simply taking a quiz, you get to pick your own preferences in terms of beauty and jewellery likes to ensure that you get a box that totally screams ‘you‘.

In the past, I’ve had a subscription to the WANTABLE jewellery box (see review here) and I adored it. I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun it was to get jewellery in the mail every month. It was always a special surprise! Yet I was always curious about the beauty side of the website.

I was lucky enough to get exclusive access to a beauty box that was specifically catered to me. How did I like it? Read on!

beauty.picks: My Everyday Makeup Arsenal

My Beauty Arsenal

If you remember from a few weeks ago, we discussed our skincare routines and how they differ.

I’m always interested in hearing everyone’s unique beauty routines because it’s such a definition of what makes us … us! And also, I’m a little nosy! I’m love peaking into everyone’s makeup kit and analyzing everyone’s tried and true favourites.

So, if I’m going to ask about yours, you might as well see mine! Here are my tried and true, desert island, beauty favourites! See anything you like?

healthy.toronto: Gluten Free Garage Review

Gluten Free Garage

As a gluten-free eater (80% of the time – I do cheat), I was immediately intrigued by Toronto’s Gluten Free Garage event. If you’re gluten free, you know that there isn’t as many places that cater to gluten free needs as there should be. Having a one stop shop for all things gluten-free was something I couldn’t pass up!

Luckily, the Gluten Free Garage invited me down to check out their Fall edition of their marketplace. How was it? In a word – perfection!

Come read some of the brands I got to interact (and eat) with at the event!

style.picks: 6 Shoes for Winter 2013

6 Shoes For You

Let’s chat about one of my favourite things ever – shoes.

A few months ago, I did a post called ‘The 10 Shoes You Need To Have In Your Wardrobe‘ that is still popular today. Shoes can play a great way in either completing your wardrobe and giving your a little bit of a morale boost during the day. Unfortunately during the winter months, all those pretty multi-coloured ballet flats and sandals that we love so much get put away. Just because you can’t rock your favourite wedges doesn’t mean that shoe style has to go out the window! I’ve got some picks for Winter Shoes that you need to have in your wardrobe without sacrificing style (and comfort)!
